Allegations against '17 diapers mom' Hannah Hiatt intensify, netizens call for arrest over neglect

Hannah Hiatt faces backlash for child neglect, prompting calls for CPS intervention.

Hannah Hiatt, a popular TikTok mom-influencer from Utah, is facing growing backlash following controversial videos that have sparked accusations of child neglect and abuse. A nurse by profession, Hiatt first gained attention in October for a video showing 17 dirty diapers scattered throughout her home. This clip, meant to highlight her experience with parenting burnout, quickly raised concerns among viewers about her childcare practices.

The most recent controversy unfolded when a video of Hiatt’s two-year-old son, James, went viral. In the footage, James is seen in a grocery cart, visibly flinching and raising his hands as his father, Braxton Hiatt, approaches with an object. Many viewers interpreted the child’s reaction as a sign of fear or trauma, and this sparked a wave of criticism. Several netizens pointed to other videos, where James appeared to go without food for long periods, and Hiatt allegedly refused to buy him a winter coat despite the cold temperatures in Utah.

In addition to these allegations, other past incidents have raised alarm. Hiatt had previously mentioned her refusal to seek prenatal care during pregnancy, citing a lack of insurance. Additionally, James is frequently seen with bruises on his face and legs in Hiatt's videos, further fueling concerns about his safety and well-being. As the controversy snowballed, many viewers began calling for an investigation by Child Protective Services (CPS), and some even demanded the arrest of both Hannah and her husband for neglecting their children.

In response to the allegations, Hiatt defended the grocery store incident, claiming that it was simply a playful interaction between her husband and son. However, many critics remained unconvinced by her explanation, leading to intensified calls for CPS involvement and an urgent investigation.

The situation has drawn comparisons to the case of Ruby Franke, another Utah-based momfluencer who was recently charged with child abuse. As public outrage continues to grow, many are calling for the protection of Hiatt’s children and for further scrutiny into her parenting practices.
