Colombian hitwoman 'The Doll' arrested for ex-boyfriend's murder and multiple gang killings
A 23-year-old Colombian woman, known as “The Doll,” has been arrested in connection with several targeted gangland murders, including the recent execution-style killing of her former lover, local reports reveal.
Karen Julieth Ojeda Rodriguez, alias “La Muneca” or “The Doll,” was detained for her suspected role in a series of high-profile murders in Barrancabermeja, reportedly commissioned by the Los de la M gang, Spanish-language outlet Libertad Digital reported on Thursday.
Rodriguez was allegedly expanding her criminal operations, leading a group of hitmen who were responsible for a string of murders before her arrest, according to a report from Spanish news outlet Infobae.
She was taken into custody following the July 23 ambush murder of her ex-boyfriend, Deyvy Jesus, in Piedecuesta, a rural area of Colombia, as confirmed by the Magdalena Medio Police.
Rodriguez had called her ex-partner, asking him to meet and settle a financial dispute, only for him to be fatally shot when two men on a motorcycle drove by and opened fire, allegedly on her orders.
Rodriguez was arrested alongside Paula Valentina Joya Rueda, 24, who goes by the alias “Gorda Sicaria,” or “Fat Hitwoman,” according to Libertad Digital.
A third accomplice, identified as “Leopoldo,” was also taken into custody at the same time as “The Doll.” Authorities reportedly seized a revolver and a 9mm pistol during the arrests.
Police are investigating whether the seized weapons were involved in any of the recent killings, local reports suggest.
“With the capture of alias La Muneca and alias Leopoldo, a period of calm has been created in the region. These arrests mark progress in the dismantling of criminal structures responsible for the recent homicides,” Lieutenant Colonel Mauricio Herrara of the Magdalena Medio Police stated, according to Infobae.
Bucaramanga, Colombia, with a population of over 1.3 million, experiences a homicide every three days, according to World Population Review.
Authorities have not yet disclosed the specific charges that La Muneca and her alleged accomplices will face.
