Man kills wife, two kids before turning gun on himself
A man shot dead his wife, two children and committed suicide with the same gun on Thursday.
Maroof Khan, son of former Union Council Nazim Tariq Naeemullah and nephew of former PML-N MPA Shahid Mahmood Khan, committed the shocking act in his DHA residence area.
Police reports suggest the tragedy stemmed from a domestic dispute over financial matters and family property.
Sources said Maroof had a disagreement with his wife, 33-year-old Iqra Maroof, following an argument over returning family jewellery to his brother, Ahed Tariq.
Enraged by the conflict, Maroof took his wife and two children5-year-old Alyan and 3-year-old Aryanout in their car. At a distance from their home, he shot them inside the vehicle before turning the gun on himself.
Upon receiving reports of gunshots, rescue teams and law enforcement, including SSP Operations Kamran Aamir Khan and DSP Saddar Bakht Nasr, arrived at the scene.
Both children were pronounced dead on the spot, while Maroof and his wife were rushed to Nishtar Hospital in critical condition.
Tragically, they succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival.
Police have taken possession of the bodies for autopsy and begun an investigation into the incident.
Preliminary findings indicate a dispute over land and jewellery as a possible motive for the tragedy. The family's home at Chowk 9 had long been a centre for political and social gatherings, with Maroof's father, Tariq Naeemullah, remembered for his service to the community during his tenure as Union Council Nazim.
Maroof's grandfather, Khan Ashraf Khan, was the founder of the Khaksar Tehreek and a key figure in the National Alliance.
