ESPN's College GameDay is mixing things up this week, as Oscar-nominated actor Timothée Chalamet has been named the guest picker for the SEC Championship game.

The event, set to take place in Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium, will see Chalamet on set with the College GameDay crew as they preview the highly anticipated showdown between No. 5 Georgia and No. 2 Texas.

Chalamet, best known for his roles in Dune and Call Me By Your Name, is not typically associated with college football. Hailing from New York, the 28-year-old is a soccer fan and follows the Knicks and Mets, but has yet to publicly voice any strong connections to American football. Despite this, his appearance on the show is generating excitement among fans, especially as the SEC Championship is one of the season's biggest games.

This marks a notable change for College GameDay, which often selects guest pickers with ties to the schools hosting that week’s game. Previous guests this season included figures such as actor Keegan-Michael Key and gymnast Livvy Dunne, who have connections to the teams featured on the show. Chalamet, however, is simply a star of Hollywood, creating curiosity around his picks for the game.

Chalamet is currently promoting his upcoming film A Complete Unknown, a Bob Dylan biopic set for release on Christmas Day. Interestingly, the film is distributed by Searchlight Pictures, a subsidiary of Disney, which also owns ESPN, potentially explaining the crossover between Chalamet's movie promotion and his guest spot on College GameDay. Fans are now eager to see how Chalamet weighs in on this exciting SEC Championship clash between Georgia and Texas.
