According to Variety, Triptii Dimri has clinched the top spot on IMDb's Most Popular Indian Stars of 2024 list, ousting the reigning powerhouse Deepika Padukone from her number one throne. This year's rankings, which capture the attention of IMDb's 250 million monthly visitors worldwide, reflect a thrilling blend of legendary names and fresh faces in India's entertainment industry.
Dimri's meteoric rise comes on the back of three standout performances this year: Bad Newz, Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video, and Bhool Bhulaiyaa 3. "It is indeed a huge honour to be ranked number one on the IMDb Most Popular Indian Stars of 2024 list," she shared. "This recognition is a testament to the incredible support of my fans and the hard work of everyone I've had the privilege of collaborating with."
Padukone, ever the force, secured the second position despite fierce competition, thanks to her powerful performances in Kalki 2898 AD (her Telugu debut), Fighter, and Singham Again.
Notably, Ishaan Khatter made waves with his international presence, landing at number three, fuelled by his role in the globally-acclaimed series The Perfect Couple, where he starred alongside Hollywood heavyweights Nicole Kidman and Liev Schreiber.
The list also shines a spotlight on fresh talents like Sobhita Dhulipala, who entered Hollywood with Monkey Man and also took on dubbing duties for Padukone's Telugu lines in Kalki 2898 AD, landing at number five. Sharvari, a star on the rise, earned number six for her impactful year, which included three releasesMunjya, Maharaj, and Vedaaand a well-deserved STARmeter Award.
The top ten sees familiar faces holding strong, with Shah Rukh Khan at four, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan at seven, Samantha at eight, and Prabhas securing ten.

Earlier, Dimri, popularly known for her role as Zoya opposite Ranbir Kapoor in Animal, found herself in the eye of a social media storm after her dance performance in the song Mere Mehboob from the film Vicky Vidya Ka Woh Wala Video sparked some serious backlash.
Fans who adored her in Animal were less than impressed by her dance moves, leading to a wave of criticism across platforms. While the song's vocals and music had some fans grooving, the dance itself was a different story. A vocal group on social media took aim at choreographer Ganesh Acharya, slamming him for what they called "vulgar" and "filthy" dance steps. In today's social media-fuelled outrage culture, this snowballed into harsh criticism not just of the choreography but of Dimri herself. A video of the performance went viral, prompting even more disapproval, with some fans questioning her choices.
But the actor responded with grace, acknowledging the feedback but emphasising that mistakes are part of the learning curve.
"As an actor, I'm trying to do different things," Dimri told Mashable India. "First, I thought that you only need to know acting to be an actor, and you're sorted. When things got real, I realised that when you're offered shows, you should know how to walk properly. When you get offered a dance number, you should know how to dance well."
