Foreign Office Spokesperosn Mumtaz Zahra Baloch said on Thursday that Pakistan remains firmly committed to pursuing the legal case of Dr Afia Siddiqui, who is currently held in the United States, according to the country’s Foreign Office.
In a weekly media briefing, spokesperson Mumtaz Zahra Baloch stated that Pakistan would continue facilitating efforts regarding Dr Siddiqui's case, Express News reported.
"Pakistan is resolute in supporting Dr Afia's legal proceedings," she added, but did not provide any details on the letter written by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif regarding the case.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch emphasised that Pakistan would continue its fight against terrorism and make efforts to ensure the safety of its citizens.
"Pakistan will keep working towards securing the safety of our people," she said.
The spokesperson also addressed the ongoing dispute over Kashmir, reiterating Pakistan’s stance on seeking a peaceful resolution through dialogue.
"Pakistan wants to resolve the Kashmir issue peacefully, but unfortunately, we have not seen any willingness from India," Mumtaz Zahra remarked.
She condemned India’s actions in Indian Illegally Occupied Jammu & Kashmir (IIOJK), particularly the forced acquisition of properties from Kashmiri citizens. Pakistan will continue its diplomatic, political, and moral support for the Kashmiri people, she said.
On the recent UN resolution regarding the Israeli withdrawal from Palestinian territories, Baloch welcomed the development, noting that it also advocated for the establishment of a Palestinian state.
Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, meanwhile, met with members of the diplomatic corps to brief them on Islamabad’s security situation. Dar reassured diplomats that Pakistan would ensure the full security of diplomatic missions and foreign nationals in the country.
