Women dominate Spotify Wrapped 2024: Taylor Swift leads with record-breaking streams
Taylor Swift has once again dominated the global charts, securing her position as the most-streamed artist on Spotify for the second year in a row. The audio streaming platform’s Spotify Wrapped 2024 data reveals that Swift, with a staggering 26.6 billion streams, is the undisputed leader in the music industry.
Much of this success can be attributed to her latest album, The Tortured Poets Department, which not only became the most-streamed album of the year but also broke several Spotify records. This includes becoming the first album to surpass 300 million streams in a single day and achieving over 1 billion streams in just one week. Swift’s continued dominance was further solidified with her albums 1989 (Taylor’s Version) and Lover making the top 10 most-streamed albums of the year.
Swift’s impressive achievement is part of a broader trend of female-driven success in 2024. Eight of the top 10 albums worldwide were by women, including hits by Billie Eilish, Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G, Ariana Grande, and SZA. Other top artists this year include the Weeknd, Bad Bunny, Drake, and Billie Eilish.
Spotify also introduced a new distinction this year: a Wrapped badge for Taylor Swift’s profile, marking her historical achievements. As for the most-streamed songs of 2024, Sabrina Carpenter’s Espresso led the pack with over 1.6 billion streams, followed by tracks from Benson Boone and Billie Eilish.
