Taylor Swift shows support for Beyoncé being named the greatest pop star of the 21st century
Taylor Swift is genuinely thrilled for Beyoncé, who was named the greatest pop star of the 21st century by Billboard.
A source close to Swift shares that the singer is supportive of Beyoncé’s achievement, acknowledging her as a deserving honoree.
Though Swift's fans are upset that she didn't claim the top spot, the “Karma” singer doesn’t feel sorry for herself, the source reveals.
“Taylor appreciates all the fan support she’s received but she knows Beyoncé is a legend in the music industry and Taylor’s honored to have landed in the number two spot next to her,” our source notes.
“Taylor is proud of what she’s accomplished regardless of what spot she holds.”
*Billboard* recently announced that while Swift, 34, is the biggest pop star of the century by the numbers, Beyoncé, 43, clinched the title based on her vast influence, impact, and career evolution over 25 years.
Swift and Beyoncé have long supported one another, so it’s no surprise that there are no hard feelings from Swift.
Their mutual respect dates back to 2009 when Beyoncé famously invited Swift back on stage during the MTV Video Music Awards after Kanye West interrupted her acceptance speech for “You Belong with Me.”
Since then, they have been vocal admirers of each other, with Swift once saying in 2015 that she loves Beyoncé “more than the normal amount,” according to *E!*.
In 2019, Swift paid tribute to Beyoncé by including a RuPaul’s Drag Race contestant dressed as Beyoncé in her “You Need to Calm Down” music video.
