Watch: Sachin Tendulkar meets childhood friend Vinod Kambli

Tendulkar and Vinod Kambli share a special moment at a memorial event for their coach

Cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar recently reunited with his childhood friend, former cricketer Vinod Kambli, that quickly went viral on social media.

The two met on Tuesday, December 3, during a memorial event in Mumbai for their coach, Ramakant Achrekar.

Kambli, 52, has been battling health complications and appeared frail during the meeting.

The video of the reunion shows an emotional exchange between the two friends, with Kambli placing his hand on Sachin’s shoulder as a gesture of affection.

Their bond, dating back to their early days in cricket, was evident as they shared this intimate moment in front of their peers.

Other players coached by Achrekar, such as Pravin Amre and Balwinder Singh Sandhu, were also present at the event.

Kambli, once hailed as a prodigious talent, had a promising start to his international career but struggled with personal issues that affected his career.

In 17 Tests, he scored 1,084 runs at an average of 54.20, and in 104 One Day Internationals, he accumulated 2,477 runs at an average of 32.59. His career was ultimately cut short due to controversies and off-field problems.

Tendulkar, who went on to become one of the greatest cricketers in history, has remained close to Kambli throughout the years, with their shared history in Mumbai's Shivaji Park gymkhana helping to cement their lifelong friendship.
