D Chowk debate flares in K-P Assembly
More than a week has passed since the November 24th protest of PTI in Islamabad, but the debate raged on in the K-P Assembly on Tuesday.
Members of the government and opposition displayed their fervor and engaged in heated discussions. During the session, the treasury expressed its sorrow and regret over the loss of PTI workers at D-Chowk, once again severely criticising the central government.
During the assembly proceedings, MPA Abdul Ghani initiated a discussion on the violence against protesters at D-Chowk, stating that the Action in Aid of Civil Power Regulation Act 2011, which was enforced in merged districts during the ANP and PPP governments, was where the example of cruelty and barbarism was set at D-Chowk.
He added that if they wanted to fight, they should confront terrorists coming from the borders of Afghanistan and India with weapons.
MPA Samiullah Khan said that on November 24, peaceful protesters were subjected to shelling and firing. They were specifically targeted at the signposts. "Today, the bodies are not being handed over, and the families are being asked to provide affidavits before receiving the bodies," he claimed.
He said that the people sitting in the Centre must accept their defeat. "The PML-N, which won only seventeen seats in the National Assembly, is now ruling over the people," he alleged. "The nation has rejected them, and they are using government posts to work against the public. For true freedom, we will stand with Imran Khan."
