Sheikhupura by-poll: Public holiday declared on December 5

Sheikhupura announces a public holiday on December 5 for the PP-139 by-election.

A public holiday has been declared in Sheikhupura district on December 5 for the upcoming by-election in the Punjab Assembly constituency PP-139.

The notification, issued by the Deputy Commissioner’s Office, confirms the holiday in light of the election day.

The PP-139 seat became vacant following the death of Rana Afzal Hussain, who had won the seat in a previous by-election after Rana Tanveer Hussain vacated it.

The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has appointed Shahid Imran Marth, the Deputy Commissioner of Sheikhupura, as the District Returning Officer for the by-poll.

Usman Jalees, Additional Deputy Commissioner (Revenue) of Sheikhupura, will serve as the Returning Officer, with Muhammad Adeel Khan, Assistant Commissioner of Ferozewala, and Rana Bakhtiar Ahmad, Deputy District Education Officer, acting as Assistant Returning Officers.

The by-election in PP-139 is being held following the death of Rana Afzal Hussain, who had previously won the seat in a by-election after Rana Tanveer Hussain vacated it.
