Britney Spears legally single on 43rd birthday after divorce from Sam Asghari
Britney Spears can now celebrate her 43rd birthday as a legally single woman, after a California court finalized her status on Monday, coinciding with her birthday.
Seven months after settling her divorce with actor Sam Asghari, People magazine reported that the court declared Spears single.
Spears and Asghari ended their 13-month marriage in July 2023 after being together for over six years.
Asghari, whose real name is Hesam Asghari, filed for divorce the following month, citing irreconcilable differences.
In an Instagram post from August 2023, Spears confirmed the breakup, stating, “As everyone knows, Hesam and I are no longer together.”
“6 years is a long time to be with someone so, I’m a little shocked but … I’m not here to explain why because its honestly nobody’s business !!!” Spears wrote. “But, I couldn’t take the pain anymore honestly !!!”
Since then, Spears seems to have embraced being single.
In October, the pop star marked her newfound independence by announcing she had "married herself."
“The day I married myself … Bringing it back because it might seem embarrassing or stupid, but I think it’s the most brilliant thing I’ve ever done !!!” she wrote in an Instagram post featuring a video of her wearing a wedding veil and off-white dress.
Spears was previously married to dancer Kevin Federline, with whom she shares two sons: Sean Preston, 19, and Jayden James, 18.
In 2004, she briefly married childhood friend Jason Allen Alexander in a Las Vegas ceremony, but the marriage was annulled after just 55 hours.
