Nargis Fakhri’s sister arrested for 'murdering' ex-boyfriend
In a shocking development, Aliya Fakhri, the 43-year-old sister of Bollywood actress Nargis Fakhri, has been arrested in New York in connection with the deaths of her ex-boyfriend, Edward Jacobs, and his friend, Anastasia Ettienne.
According to Indian reports from the Queens District Attorney, Aliya allegedly set fire to a two-story garage where the victims were sleeping, leading to their deaths from smoke inhalation and thermal injuries.
The tragic incident took place early in the morning on November 2, when Aliya reportedly shouted, "You are all going to die today," before setting the fire around 6:20 AM.
Ettienne, who woke up to the flames, attempted to alert Jacobs before returning upstairs. However, the fire spread rapidly, leaving the victims trapped inside.
Reports indicate that Aliya had not been able to move on after Jacobs ended their relationship about a year ago. Jacobs' mother revealed in an interview that her son had made it clear to Aliya that their relationship was over.
Although Nargis Fakhri has not yet publicly commented on the incident, her mother denied any possibility of Aliya being capable of such violence, describing her as a caring person who was always willing to help others.
Aliya Fakhri faces serious charges and could be sentenced to life imprisonment if convicted. Her bail request was denied, and her next court appearance is scheduled for December 9.
The incident has shocked both the Fakhri family and the public, as details continue to emerge. Nargis Fakhri, known for her roles in films such as Rockstar, is reportedly focused on her upcoming projects, including Hari Hara Veera Mallu and Housefull 5.
