Sabrina Krasniqi feared divorce after cheating, kills husband in murder-suicide
The former New York model who fatally shot her day-trader husband before taking her own life had been worried he would divorce her after she admitted to cheating, according to his brother, who spoke out on Monday.
Arben “Benny” Krasniqi, from Scarsdale, told The Post that the family had noticed several troubling signs from Sabrina Krasniqi, 27, who shot her husband Pajtim, 34, five times on the balcony of their upscale Florida condo just after midnight on Wednesday.
“We saw plenty of signs, and now everything makes sense,” the Westchester County resident said. “But they were in love, and never in a million years did we think something like this could happen.”
Benny explained that Sabrina had been unfaithful to Pajtim and had reached a breaking point where guilt overwhelmed her.
“There was infidelity on her part,” the 43-year-old said of his sister-in-law, who hailed from Queens. “She came to a point of guilt or something that she just could not take.”
Benny also revealed that Pajtim had expressed his desire to divorce Sabrina, but she couldn’t accept it, leading her to take drastic actions.
“My brother wanted a divorce, and she didn’t take that lightly. And she decided to take her own life and, somewhere along the line, she decided to take my brother’s life.”
Neighbors told police they had heard intense arguments coming from the couple’s apartment in the days leading up to the tragic incident. The couple was known to argue loudly both on their balcony and inside their condo, according to law enforcement sources.
He continued, expressing the devastating impact the loss has had on the entire family. “We’re all just trying to cope,” he said. “My mother’s devastated. We’ve lost someone who is so genuine, who is so loving, who is so intelligent and hard-working and just irreplaceable — and it has left the entire family devastated.”
Benny added that “He was full of love. And that’s all been taken away from us by a selfish act of one person. One more selfish act from [Sabrina], and [she took] my brother along with her.”
Police responded to the scene after the shooting triggered the local ShotSpotter system, arriving to find the couple’s bodies outside their 45th-floor unit.
Aerial footage from the police investigation showed visible bullet holes in a glass door and pools of blood nearby.
A yellow tarp covered their bodies, while a teddy bear and a box of roses with a heart were seen inside the apartment, according to NBC 6.
