Kyrie Irving, the NBA star, is facing a lawsuit from Elite Mind Solutions, a health and wellness company, claiming that he owes them nearly $400,000 for services rendered during a family retreat earlier this year.
The lawsuit, filed in New York on December 2, 2024, alleges that Irving hired Elite Mind Solutions and their prominent therapist, Natasha McCartney, to provide therapeutic services for a retreat he hosted for friends and family from June 28 to July 2, 2024. Initially, Irving indicated that 50 to 60 people would attend the event, but the company claims that just days before it started, the number of attendees was updated to 115. Upon arrival, the retreat had around 150 attendees.
Despite the unexpected increase in guests, Elite Mind Solutions asserts that it fulfilled its commitment by providing all promised services, which included therapeutic sessions, crisis management, and grief counseling after a tragic death occurred during the retreat.
The company claims that it sent Irving invoices totaling $390,710 for the services provided but has not been paid. As a result, they are suing the basketball player for breach of contract, seeking the owed amount along with interest and attorney fees.
Irving, who has earned over $300 million in his NBA career, has yet to respond publicly to the lawsuit. A request for comment from his legal team has not been answered.
This legal battle adds to the ongoing challenges in the athlete’s personal and professional life as he faces another significant financial dispute.
