Police kill two suspects in shootout

They were making good their escape but the police arrived in the nick of time.

Two alleged robbers were killed in a shootout with the police late on Monday night in the Qasba Colony area of Orangi Town.

Pirabad police station SHO Imtiaz Mir Jat told The Express Tribune that Bilawal and Naqash had robbed the home of Mubarak Shah a scrap dealer.

They were making good their escape but the police arrived in the nick of time.

Meanwhile, Payaro Khan Chowki In-charge, Iqar Hussain Baloch, told The Express Tribune that he was present at his check post when local residents informed him about the presence of robbers in a house. Baloch said he rushed to the spot with his team within minutes.

He said that the armed robbers had taken women and girls hostage on the upper floor of the house.

Police first asked the dacoits to surrender, but they opened fire, on which the police also retaliated and two dacoits were killed on the spot in the exchange of fire, while a police officer named Tanveer Hussain Munir was injured by a bullet in the foot.

Baloch said that hundreds of thousands of rupees in cash, gold ornaments, weapons and other goods were recovered from the dead dacoits.
