My Chemical Romance mourns former drummer Bob Bryar after grim discovery of his death

My Chemical Romance breaks silence on the death of former drummer Bob Bryar

My Chemical Romance has broken its silence following the tragic death of their former drummer, Bob Bryar, at 44. The band confirmed Bryar's passing in a statement to Rolling Stone, asking fans for patience and understanding as they process their grief.

Bryar was found dead at his home in Tennessee just two days before Thanksgiving, with his body described as badly decomposed. Authorities do not suspect foul play, and it was reported that Bryar’s personal belongings and music equipment were left untouched. Bryar had been out of contact since November 4, when he posted his last tweets.

Bryar was the longest-serving drummer for My Chemical Romance, joining the band in 2004 after the release of their album Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge. He played on all of the band's major releases until his departure in 2010, which was marked by internal tensions. Despite leaving the band, Bryar reunited with My Chemical Romance for their 2013 Conventional Weapons record before stepping away from music entirely. He later pursued a career in real estate and became an advocate for dog rescue.

The band, consisting of Gerard Way, Frank Iero, Mikey Way, and Ray Toro, expressed deep sadness over the loss, with a spokesperson urging fans to respect their grieving process. Bryar’s impact on the emo-punk scene is remembered by fans and the band alike.

In a tweet from 2015, Bryar opened up about his struggles with depression following his departure from the band, stating he felt “depressed, angry, and suicidal”. While My Chemical Romance had plans for a 2025 tour, Bryar was not scheduled to reunite. His death is a reminder of the personal battles many artists face.
