NewJeans’ parents to guide group’s future after contract termination with ADOR
On November 29, 2024, NewJeans officially announced their departure from ADOR, signaling a major change in the group’s future. After months of unresolved issues, they decided to terminate their contracts with the agency. In a move that surprised many, the members revealed that their parents would play a key role in managing their activities and making important decisions moving forward.
The parents’ involvement began before the termination announcement, as they helped the group prepare for an emergency press conference on November 28. Reports from Sports DongA reveal that the parents took on responsibilities including public relations, security arrangements, and communications, which had previously been managed by the agency. Given the legal disputes surrounding ADOR and former CEO Min Hee Jin, it’s expected that NewJeans will continue navigating their career with their parents' support as they seek to avoid any further complications with third-party agencies.
Despite the contract termination, NewJeans' schedule remains largely unaffected. The group appeared on TV Asahi’s Music Station on November 29, and they are still scheduled for key performances such as the Yoasobi concert on December 7-8 and the 2024 SBS Gayo Daejeon, FNS Gayo Festival, and Countdown Japan 24/25 events in Japan. They have also announced plans to launch a new communication channel with fans, following the termination of the Phoning app service.
While the situation remains fluid, it is clear that NewJeans is determined to continue their activities and prioritize direct communication with their supporters in this new phase of their career.
