Karachi police bust motorcycle lifter gang, arrest five suspects

Stolen motorcycles, engines, and parts recovered during the operation

Karachi police arrested five members of a motorcycle lifter gang in an operation based on intelligence information.

The arrests took place in the Jamshed Quarter area, near Jahangir Road, close to the inquiry office, following a raid conducted by police, Express News reported.

During the operation, authorities recovered three stolen motorcycles, along with several parts, including engines, chassis, and other components.

According to a spokesperson for the SSP District East, the arrested suspects were identified as Syed Mohammad Ammar, Mudassar, Tahir Ayub, Mohammad Khalid, and Rashid.

The police have linked the suspects to multiple cases of motorcycle theft across various police stations. Among the recovered motorcycles, the police said the cases included the theft of motorcycle KKS-0839 at the Jamshed Quarter police station, KJA-6940 at the Soldier Bazaar station, and KLZ-2568 at the New Town station.

In addition to the motorcycles, the police recovered two engines, two chassis, a mudguard, a silencer, and a fuel tank during the raid.

Investigations revealed that the suspects had a history of criminal activity, with several cases registered against them in various police stations.

Mudassar, one of the arrested suspects, has previous charges registered against him in the Gulistan-e-Johar, Soldier Bazaar, and Pirabad police stations.

Syed Mohammad Ammar, another suspect, faces six cases, including serious charges like terrorism and attempted murder, across multiple stations, including the New Town and Jamshed Quarter police stations.

Tahir Ayub has two cases registered against him in 2021 at the Jamshed Quarter station, while Mohammad Khalid is facing several serious charges, including robbery and violations of the Arms Act.

The police have begun further investigations to locate other members of the motorcycle theft gang, as they continue to track the stolen items.
