The US Consul General in Karachi, Scott Urbom, and other consulate officials extended heartfelt greetings to the people of Sindh on Sunday, celebrating Sindh Culture Day with messages of peace and prosperity.
In a special video message, Scott Urbom, along with consulate staff, wished the Sindhi community in their native language, saying: “Sindh jo sakafati deharho mubarak hojay,” meaning "Happy Sindh Culture Day."
The consulate team was dressed in traditional Sindhi attire, including brightly coloured Ajrak shawls and Sindhi caps, marking their solidarity with the cultural celebrations.
"Sindh’s rich heritage, known for its mystics, Sufis, poets, and saints, is a symbol of tolerance and inclusivity," Scott Urbom said. "On this special day, we celebrate the values of unity and peace that Sindh stands for."
The US consulate posted messages on its social media platforms, joining in the global festivities that honour the cultural legacy of Sindh. The posts highlighted the province's timeless Sufi teachings and its respect for diversity, encapsulating the essence of Sindh's culture.
“Sindh is a land renowned for its mystics, Sufis, poets, and saints. It has long been a symbol of inclusivity and tolerance,” said Scott Urbom, extending his warmest wishes for prosperity and peace to the people of Sindh and Pakistan.
Sindh Culture Day, celebrated annually on the first Sunday of December, showcases the province’s centuries-old traditions. Sindhi people, both in the region and abroad, wear the signature Sindhi caps and Ajrak fabric as expressions of pride in their cultural identity.
Meanwhile, Sindh’s Governor Kamran Khan Tessori also extended his congratulations to the people of Sindh, expressing his admiration for the province’s rich cultural heritage.
