JustaMinx criticizes Tectone for using derogatory term about Jacksepticeye after autism reveal

JustaMinx slams Tectone for using the R-word to describe Jacksepticeye after his recent autism diagnosis announcement.

Twitch streamer JustaMinx has publicly criticized fellow content creator Tectone for using the derogatory R-word to describe YouTuber Jacksepticeye after he revealed his autism diagnosis. On November 27, 2024, Jacksepticeye (Sean McLoughlin) shared a heartfelt post about his recent autism diagnosis, which was met with overwhelming support from fans and fellow content creators. However, Tectone’s response to the post used the harmful R-word, triggering backlash across social media.

The controversy erupted when Tectone posted a comment on X (formerly Twitter), calling Jacksepticeye “reta*ded.” The term is widely considered offensive and derogatory, often used to belittle and stereotype people with mental disabilities. JustaMinx, a popular Twitch personality, was quick to respond, sharing a screenshot of Tectone’s now-deleted post. She blasted the streamer in her tweet, writing, “Having the audacity to look like this and tweet sht like this while being an abuser is f**king insane.” JustaMinx’s remark refers to Tectone’s previous controversies, including accusations of sexual abuse, which had already made him a target of criticism within the streaming community.

The use of the R-word sparked a heated debate among fans and fellow creators. Some expressed their disapproval of Tectone’s comment, with users like @bro_tobro saying, “You shouldn’t be making fun of that,” emphasizing the harmful nature of such language. Others, such as @ItsBeamm, pointed out that using the term demonstrated a lack of understanding about autism, especially considering the growing awareness around the spectrum and its prevalence.

However, not everyone was critical of Tectone. A few defended him, arguing that while the use of the R-word was inappropriate, it was not grounds for "cancellation." Some even found the post humorous, with one user, @VKay69420, writing, “I’m autistic but that lowkey made me laugh a little lol.”

This incident highlights a larger conversation about the language used in online spaces, particularly when discussing sensitive topics like autism. It serves as a reminder of the importance of education and awareness when discussing mental health, especially in the highly visible world of streaming. Content creators, who influence millions of people, are expected to set an example, making it crucial for them to be mindful of their words and their impact.
