Vawda says Imran's life is in danger

Senator alleges that the danger comes from Imran's spouse Bushra Bibi and some other PTI members.

ISLAMABAD:

Former PTI leader Faisal Vawda has claimed that there is a threat to the life of former prime minister Imran Khan's life, alleging that the danger comes from Imran's spouse Bushra Bibi and some other PTI members.

During a discussion on Express News' programme Kal Tak, Vawda on Thursday said that during his 22 years of struggle, Imran Khan was neither a thief, nor was involved in the embezzlement of £190 million.

"He [PTI founder] didn't engage in violent or adversarial politics nor did he attack institutions or criticize the judiciary.

"Even today, we respect even Imran Khan's dog, but the conflict has reached a point where it is not only leading to the destruction of Pakistan, democracy, and Imran Khan's political career but also poses a threat to his life," the senator said.

According to Vawda, all the problems arose when Bushra Bibi came into Imran's life, and the evidence of her corruption was presented to Imran by General Asim Munir, who was serving as the director general of Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) during the earlier part of Imran's terms as the prime minister.

"Instead of appreciating the honesty of the person who brought the evidence and addressing the matter by holding his wife accountable, Imran Khan removed the person [as the ISI chief]," he said. The senator alleged that Bushra Bibi later started propaganda against General Munir because she knew that if he became the army chief, her "true face" would be exposed.

"The watch theft was orchestrated by Bushra Bibi, and the £190 million ended up in the pockets of her children, despite my warnings to Imran Khan," he added.
