KU girls athletics team excels in PM Olympiad

Athletes from 170 universities across Pakistan competed in Islamabad event

The Prime Minister's Inter-University Sports Olympiad, organized by various universities in collaboration with the Higher Education Commission (HEC), was held in Islamabad.

The event brought together athletes from 170 universities across Pakistan, showcasing remarkable talent and sportsmanship.

The University of Karachi actively participated in multiple sports, including athletics (girls & boys), hockey (girls), volleyball (boys), and swimming (boys).

Natasha Hasan was brilliant in the event, clinching two gold medals. She set two new records, first in 5000m race by registering a timing of 21:12.53 seconds. Later, she set a new record in the10,000m race by recording a fantastic time of 44:53.00 second.

Qandeel Sultan also earned a bronze medal in the 5000m race.

Later, the KU relay team comprising Natasha Hasan, Qandeel Sultan, Nida Shah and Bushra Zaman secured a bronze medal in the 4x400m relay.

The University of Karachi also participated in girls hockey, boys volleyball and swimming competitions, showcasing its dedication and competitive spirit.

The participation and achievements of the University of Karachi team were made possible through the guidance of its management and coaching staff which included team manager Prof. Muhammad Nadeem , assistant manager Naeem Khalid and KU's director physical education Raashid Qureshi.

Athletics officials included team manager Syed Gohar Raza, girls coach Sylveistain Dean and boys coach Shahbaz Ahmed.

Karachi University's remarkable performances, particularly in athletics, reflect the institution's commitment to nurturing talent and promoting sports excellence.
