PCB rejects hybrid model for CT 2025

PCB has reportedly urged ICC to provide a workable solution to hosting issue

KARACHI:

The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has formally informed the International Cricket Council (ICC) of its decision to reject the hybrid hosting model for the Champions Trophy 2025. Ahead of the ICC Board Directors meeting scheduled for Friday, the PCB has reiterated its stance that Pakistan will not share hosting rights with any other country.

The PCB has reportedly urged the ICC to provide a workable solution to the hosting issue before the meeting. This, they said, would allow for better preparation and make it easier to reach a final decision.

"We remain firm in our position: Pakistan will not agree to a hosting arrangement where another country becomes involved. It is unacceptable for the Pakistani team to travel to India to play matches while the Indian team refuses to come to Pakistan," the PCB is reported to have told the ICC.

The Champions Trophy is set to be held in February-March 2025, but India's refusal to send its team to Pakistan has created uncertainty over the tournament's structure. The PCB has repeatedly rejected the idea of a hybrid model, insisting on hosting the event in Pakistan as planned.

The ICC Board meeting is expected to address these concerns and explore possible resolutions, but the PCB has made it clear that any decision must uphold fairness and equality.

India will not travel to Pak for CT: Rashid Latif

Ex-skipper Rashid Latif has revealed that the ICC Champions Trophy 2025 will be played under a hybrid model following an agreement between the International Cricket Council (ICC), the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI), and the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB).

"The apex body of international cricket and the two boards have agreed to go ahead with a hybrid model," Latif told RevSportz".
