Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade 2024: Star-studded performances and dazzling floats light up NYC
The 2024 Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade kicked off i New York City Thursday morning, despite steady rainfall, bringing vibrant balloons, themed floats, and stunning performances.
This year’s parade marked a century of tradition, blending iconic elements with a fresh, contemporary flair. The festive spectacle featured performances by global stars including Kylie Minogue, Jennifer Hudson, and Idina Menzel, delighting millions of viewers.
Among the new attractions were impressive balloons such as Spider-Man and Minnie Mouse, along with creative floats inspired by zoo animals and pasta, highlighting the city's diverse culture. The parade's hallmark elements, like the signature helium-filled balloons, marching bands, and Santa Claus at the grand finale, ensured the festive spirit remained intact.
This year, 17 giant balloons, 22 themed floats, and 700 clowns paraded down the 2.5-mile route from the Upper West Side to Macy’s Herald Square. Additional highlights included reality TV star Ariana Madix, hip-hop icon T-Pain, and Broadway legend Lea Salonga. A standout new float was the Rao’s food brand tribute featuring a pasta knight and dragon.
The Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade continues to be an unbreakable tradition, with only three cancellations in its history—during World War II. Despite the wet conditions, the event went on as scheduled, maintaining its status as a beloved holiday ritual that ushers in the festive season.
