K-pop group NewJeans has officially severed ties with ADOR, the agency under HYBE that also manages BTS, after issuing an ultimatum two weeks ago.

The five members demanded changes or threatened to terminate their contract, citing mistreatment and concerns over the company’s management.

At a late-night press conference, the group confirmed their decision. “From midnight today, our contract will be terminated with ADOR,” said member Minji.

NewJeans, one of HYBE’s most successful groups since their 2022 debut, has reportedly faced growing tensions with the agency. Member Hanni revealed that the group had been subjected to “mistreatment,” including “deliberate miscommunications” and manipulative practices.

“This is not the type of work ethic we respect,” Hanni added, explaining that continuing under a company that does not prioritize their well-being would be harmful.

The group’s demands also included an apology from a HYBE manager accused of bullying and the immediate reinstatement of Min Hee-jin, the former ADOR chief who resigned last week amidst a legal battle with HYBE.

While the group plans to fulfill their contractual obligations, they acknowledged that their departure may mean they can no longer use the NewJeans name. ADOR has not responded to requests for comment.
