Kamala Harris criticized by Kevin O'Leary: "A Faulted, Broken Candidate"
Billionaire investor and "Shark Tank" star Kevin O'Leary has delivered a sharp critique of Vice President Kamala Harris, accusing her of being a "broken candidate" with "no compassion" for the American people.
During a roundtable on CNN NewsNight, O'Leary tore into Harris’ political career, suggesting that her failure in the 2024 race stemmed from longstanding flaws that the Democratic Party overlooked.
O'Leary pointed to the Democrats’ early decision to position Harris as the nominee without a primary, calling it a major mistake. “They anointed this faulted, broken candidate who was inconsequential in her vice presidency,” O'Leary said, referencing her struggles in 2019 and her lack of impact in 2020. He criticized her for failing to communicate clearly and for lacking empathy towards people and even her own supporters.
A key moment in the critique came from O'Leary’s reflection on Harris’ appearance on The View, where she struggled to explain how she would have handled matters differently from President Biden. “She was so weak as a candidate, she couldn’t even answer that she would do something different. It ricocheted around the world. She was finished,” he stated, underscoring how Harris’ inability to distance herself from the unpopular incumbent hurt her campaign.
O'Leary also questioned the Democrats' handling of Harris' candidacy, noting how influential figures like Nancy Pelosi may have had a hand in deciding Biden’s successor without allowing for a fair process. This led him to argue that the party’s decision-making had undermined democratic values.
As the 2024 election approaches, O'Leary’s harsh comments reflect the growing frustration among some political observers who believe that Harris is not the right person to lead the Democratic Party. With a cloud of uncertainty still hanging over the party’s future leadership, O'Leary’s critique serves as a reminder of the challenges Harris faces in reestablishing her public image.
