Khalid, the 26-year-old R&B singer, has addressed disturbing claims from his ex-boyfriend, Hugo Almonte, who publicly outed him as gay last week.

In a series of social media posts, Khalid denied accusations of abuse and drug use, while accusing Almonte of being the abusive partner during their relationship.

The controversy began when Almonte alleged that Khalid tried to "silence" him after their breakup and accused the singer of using drugs, paying for sex, and being abusive. Khalid countered these claims in an Instagram and X (formerly Twitter) post, asserting he has "never done cocaine" or paid for sex, and he labeled the allegations as false. Khalid also clarified that their relationship ended four years ago, contradicting Almonte’s implication of a recent split.

Khalid explained his decision to speak out, citing the triggering nature of public comments painting him as "a manipulative abuser." He expressed frustration over the accusations, adding, "The abuse was the other way around, and that’s what hurts the most."

The drama also forced Khalid to confirm his sexuality publicly. He shared a brief post on X, writing, "I am [gay]! And that's okay," affirming he wasn’t hiding his identity but preferred to keep it private.

As the controversy unfolds, Khalid continues to address fan support, emphasizing that his sexuality doesn’t define his artistry. Known for hits like "Location" and "Young, Dumb & Broke," Khalid remains one of R&B’s standout talents despite the personal challenges now made public.
