Power Outages: Tribe threatens to block highway
The protest is against power outages in the Jamrud tehsil areas.
KHYBER AGENCY:
If Tesco authorities don’t stop power outages in the Jamrud tehsil areas, the Koki Khel tribe will block the Pakistan-Afghanistan highway in protest, the chief of the Khyber Agency chapter of the Awami National Party (ANP) said on Monday. He said the power utility was providing electricity to four steel mills and dozens of ice factories by carrying out load-shedding in rural areas of Jamrud. As a result, he said, water supply in residential areas was being badly affected. He appealed to the Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa governor to take necessary action.
