PESHAWAR:

Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader, former provincial minister, and current member of the National Assembly, Atif Khan, has challenged a notice issued by the Anti-Corruption Department in the Peshawar High Court.

The writ petition was filed through advocates Shamail Ahmed Butt, Bilal Tangi, and Najm-ul-Salehin.

According to the petitioner, as a former provincial minister and sitting MNA, he received a notice from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Anti-Corruption Department asking him to submit a response regarding the Malam Jabba land scandal.

The writ petition argues that the notice directs the petitioner to participate in an investigation concerning land purchases in Malam Jabba and also respond to questions regarding Fazal Garden, a private housing society in Mardan.

The petition highlights that the National Accountability Bureau (NAB) had previously conducted an inquiry into the Malam Jabba land case and found no irregularities, subsequently closing the case. However, during the previous government, the Public Accounts Committee chairman ordered the reopening of the Malam Jabba inquiry, which again concluded with the NAB Executive Board's decision to close the case, citing no evidence of wrongdoing.

This decision was endorsed by the Peshawar High Court, which dismissed the case after NAB submitted its response.
