Restaurants on Burns Road warned against littering

Authorities to impose fines on violators for not following set laws

KARACHI:

Warning notices have been issued to restaurants for dumping garbage on Burns Road on the instructions of Mayor Murtaza Wahab. Sindh Solid Waste Management Board (SSWMB) and KMC officers will take joint legal action against the litterers and impose fines in for non-compliance of set laws.

A team comprising officials from the SSWMB and KMC visited Burns Road Food Street and issued warning notices to Mazedar Haleem, Karachi Haleem, Platter House, Waheed Kabab, Anwar Sajji, Haji Rubri, and Food Centre for spreading garbage.

In addition, other restaurants and shopkeepers were also informed not to throw garbage outside, instead dispose of in the dustbins.

According to the KMC Act, fines will be imposed after three days of the issuance of the warning letters if rules are not followed. In addition, social mobilizers are also providing awareness in the areas and food streets using megaphones.
