Huddle stresses quality health service

Relevant authorities in Islamabad have been directed to expedite the upgradation of Rural Health Centres (RHCs) and Basic Health Units (BHUs) and introduce the "One Patient, One Identity" system to enhance patient facilities.

The directives were issued during a recent meeting chaired by Islamabad Chief Commissioner Muhammad Ali Randhawa.

The meeting, attended by CDA board members, the executive director of Capital Hospital, the district health officer (DHO), and other officials, focused on reviewing healthcare facilities in the federal capital.

The DHO provided a detailed briefing on the status of health centres and the measures underway to improve healthcare services, including the provision of medical equipment and the upgradation of BHUs and RHCs. The chief commissioner emphasised the need for a business model for primary health centres, aimed at generating revenue to reinvest in these facilities. They also highlighted the importance of expanding telemedicine options.

The executive director of Capital Hospital informed the participants about ongoing recruitment efforts for doctors and paramedical staff. Additionally, the chairman directed that Capital Hospital be shifted to solar energy as part of broader modernisation efforts.

It was noted during the meeting that biometric authentication and an online record system have already been introduced for employees, while a "Health Information Management System" (HIMS) is in the process of implementation.
