PTI leaders booked in 3 more terror cases

Police accuse Imran Khan of instigating violence through November 24 protest call

RAWALPINDI:

Police in the garrison city have registered three more First Information Reports (FIRs) against top PTI leaders including Imran Khan, his wife Bushra Bibi, sister Aleema Khan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister Ali Amin Gandapur for rioting incidents of November 24.

The FIRs filed under various laws including the country's anti-terrorism law—ATA, 1997—were registered on Monday on the complaint of police officials.

According to police sources, the first FIR was registered at the Taxila police station. The complaint alleges that the PTI founder used Aleema Khan to communicate a message to the public regarding the protest planned for November 24.

Aleema reportedly shared this message via a video on electronic media on November 19. Bushra Bibi also instructed PTI MNAs and MPAs to gather groups of 5,000 to 10,000 people for the protest.

The FIR further claims that under the directions of Imran, individuals including Taimoor Masood, Fahad Masood, Saleem Swati, Sheikh Sharjeel, and Aamir Mujtaba led workers in an attack on police personnel.

In Taxila's Gangoo area, PTI workers led by National Assembly Opposition Leader Omar Ayub raised slogans, damaged government property, including a police motorcycle, and allegedly abducted a driver, who was later released.

The accused are charged with organizing an unlawful assembly, inciting violent protests, and obstructing public officials in their duties. They allegedly blocked public roads in Multan, disrupting civic life and endangering public safety. The protest involved arson, vandalism, and slogans against state institutions, spreading fear among the public.

The case also names prominent PTI figures like former president Arif Alvi, Khurshid Khan, Shehryar Riaz, Atif Riaz, Hammad Azhar, and Asad Qaiser.

Police sources also revealed that additional FIRs were registered against the PTI chairman and senior leadership at Dhoke Syedan and Sadiqabad police stations. Across these three cases, more than 500 PTI workers have been identified as accused.

On Saturday, the DI Khan police registered a case against Bushra Bibi on the complaint of a citizen, Yasin, under the Telegraph Act, 1885. The complainant alleged that she, in a recent statement, tried to damage the cordial ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as part of a conspiracy.

Another FIR was registered against Bushra Bibi, who was granted bail last month after a 9-month detention—at the Border Military Police Station in Rajanpur based on a complaint filed by Hakim Khan.

The complainant alleged that Bushra Bibi's statement against Saudi Arabia caused emotional distress. The complaint involves serious accusations related to a conspiracy against national integrity. A third FIR was lodged against her at City Police Station in Layyah by complainant Ashfaq Sohail.
