Efforts for inclusive society stressed

Provincial Minister for Minorities Ramesh Singh Arora has reiterated the Punjab government's commitment to ensuring the constitutional protection of minority communities.

Addressing a seminar in Youhanabad on Sunday, he said the government was making efforts to create an inclusive society where equal opportunities and rights were guaranteed for all citizens, irrespective of their religion or ethnicity.

Minister Arora said the provincial government would launch Minority Cards to uplift religious minorities.

He said the minorities affairs department was also preparing a five-year strategic plan, making it the first provincial department to have such a comprehensive roadmap.

The Executive Director of the Search for Justice organisation, Peter Jacob, stressed the importance of dialogue and cooperation among the government, civil society and religious communities.

He underscored that such forums were crucial in advancing the cause of minority rights and fostering understanding and collaboration among diverse groups.

Parliamentary Secretary Sonia Asher also emphasised collaborative efforts between the government and religious communities to address the challenges faced by minorities.

She expressed the government's determination to ensure the protection and empowerment of religious minorities across the province.
