Bushra not to attend PTI rally today
PTI founder Imran Khan's spouse Bushra Bibi has been practically leading the former ruling party since her release on bail on October 24. She has also actively participated in organizing and monitoring the PTI's planned protest scheduled for today (Sunday).
However, the former first lady will not participate in the rally in view of the advice of her incarcerated husband.
According to sources, Imran has asked Bushra not to be part of the protest march after authorities lodged first information reports (FIRS) against her.
On Saturday, the DI Khan police registered a case against Bushra Bibi on the complaint of a citizen, Yasin, under the Telegraph Act, 1885.
The complainant alleged that she, in a recent statement, tried to damage the cordial ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia as part of a conspiracy.
Another FIR has been registered against Bushra Bibi at the Border Military Police Station in Rajanpur based on a complaint filed by Hakim Khan.
The complainant alleged that Bushra Bibi's statement against Saudi Arabia caused emotional distress. The complaint involves serious accusations related to a conspiracy against national integrity. A third FIR was lodged against her at City Police Station in Layyah by complainant Ashfaq Sohail.
According to sources, the former first lady will now monitor the protest march from the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (K-P) Chief Minister House where she has been residing since her release after a 9-month detention.
PTI spokesperson Sheikh Waqas Akram confirmed that Bushra Bibi will not participate in the protest. "Bushra Bibi is a homemaker, and we have clarified this repeatedly over the past five days.
She neither had plans to attend the protest nor does she currently have any, and she will not be attending," he added.
