Israeli strikes on Lebanon kill 47, dozens injured

Air attacks target border areas between Lebanon and Syria, with local hospitals reporting several wounded

Israeli airstrikes on Lebanon’s eastern region have killed at least 47 people and left numerous others injured, including women and children.

The air attacks targeted the border areas between Lebanon and Syria, with local hospitals reporting several critically wounded individuals.

According to foreign news agencies, the Israeli forces launched heavy bombardment on areas in southern Lebanon, causing widespread destruction. Hospital sources confirmed that many of the injured are in a serious condition.

The Israeli military claims that its attacks were aimed at Hezbollah positions, and that warnings had been issued to civilians to evacuate the targeted areas prior to the attacks.

The Israeli statement further detailed that, in retaliation for the airstrikes, Hezbollah had fired ten rockets into northern Israel, specifically targeting the town of Nahariya.

The Israeli Defense Forces reported the death of a 30-year-old Israeli citizen in the rocket attack, although most of the rockets were intercepted before reaching their intended targets.

Hezbollah has confirmed the rocket attacks on northern Israel, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict. The group’s recent assaults on Israel have claimed the lives of over 100 people, including more than 70 Israeli soldiers.

As the violence intensifies, the international community has expressed concern over the growing death toll and the potential for further escalation in the region.

Recentlty, dozens were killed or unaccounted for in Gaza on November 21 after Israeli strikes, on the day the International Criminal Court (ICC) issued an arrest warrant for Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu over the war.

One strike near the Kamal Adwan hospital in the north of the territory left "dozens of people" dead or missing, the facility's director Hossam Abu Safiya told AFP.

Another strike was reported in a neighbourhood of Gaza City, with civil defence spokesman Mahmud Bassal saying 22 were dead.

Furthermore, leaders of the Group of 20 (G20) major economies called for "comprehensive" ceasefires in both Gaza and Lebanon.

In Lebanon, at least 3,583 people have been killed and 15,244 wounded in Israeli attacks since the war on Gaza began.
