Will Ferrell crashes Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs’ ‘SNL’ rehearsal, leaves him ‘very uncomfortable’
Ana Gasteyer, a former cast member of Saturday Night Live (SNL), shared a memorable story involving Will Ferrell and Sean ‘Diddy’ Combs during an appearance on the Las Culturistas podcast. Reflecting on her six years at SNL, Gasteyer recalled Ferrell hilariously crashing Diddy’s closed rehearsal in 1998. Combs, performing his hit Come With Me featuring Jimmy Page, had requested a private run-through, but Ferrell, dressed as a crew member in a repurposed costume, walked on stage mid-rehearsal, leaving Combs visibly uncomfortable.
Ferrell discussed the incident in 2020’s Stories From the Show, admitting, “I didn’t really know what to do once I got up there.” The moment became legendary, with footage showing Ferrell casually wandering on stage as Diddy performed. Gasteyer described the bit as a playful response to the “faux importance” of some celebrity demands on the set.
Combs, currently facing legal battles, including sexual assault allegations and racketeering charges, pleaded not guilty but remains in custody. Despite the controversy surrounding his current situation, the 1998 incident is remembered as one of SNL’s iconic behind-the-scenes pranks.
