AR Rahman’s pre-marriage agreement with Saira Banu revealed

Famous Indian musician A.R. Rahman and his wife Saira Banu have announced their separation after 29 years of marriage, following which an old interview of A.R. Rahman has gone viral.

In a 2012 interview with renowned Indian host Simi Garewal, A.R. Rahman shared that he got married when he was at the peak of his career and had no time to look for a wife.

He further revealed that his mother found a simple girl for him who would adjust with him. Rahman mentioned that before marriage, some important points were discussed and agreed upon between him and his wife.

Rahman told Simi Garewal that he had already informed his wife that he wouldn't have time to take her on vacations or shopping because of his busy music career.

Rahman explained that his marriage to Saira Banu was arranged and he wanted a partner who wouldn’t cause him any trouble, allowing him to focus on his work. He just needed a wife who was a little educated, beautiful, and sensible — which his mother found for him. This led to their marriage in 1995.

However, after 29 years, this long journey ended in 2024 when Saira's lawyer announced their separation.

Rahman confirmed the divorce as well, sharing a heartfelt message on social media. He expressed that he had hoped their relationship would last 30 years, but unfortunately, it did not.
