LeBron James has announced his decision to take a break from social media, citing negativity in sports coverage as his primary reason.

The announcement came after he reposted a statement from Rich Kleiman on X (formerly Twitter) that criticised the prevalence of negative narratives in sports media.

"With so much hate and negativity in the world today, it confuses me why some of National sports media still think that the best way to cover sports is through negative takes," Kleiman wrote.

In response, James shared his thoughts: "And with that said I’ll holla at y’all! Getting off social media for the time being. Y’all take care."

This announcement has sparked mixed reactions among fans. Some pointed to ongoing nepotism accusations surrounding his son, Bronny James, as a potential factor influencing LeBron's decision.

One user remarked, "The only reason you're even on the Lakers is because of your son. You're a complete nepotism signing. You weren't even good enough to make a college basketball roster."

Despite criticism, many fans supported LeBron's move to distance himself from the toxic environment of social platforms.

The Lakers recently announced that Bronny James would be alternating between the main team and its G-League affiliate, drawing further scrutiny. Regardless of the chatter, LeBron’s departure highlights his commitment to prioritising positivity and personal well-being in a demanding public life.
