Telegram founder Pavel Durov is offering free IVF treatment for woman using his sperm
Telegram founder Pavel Durov, often called “Russia’s Mark Zuckerberg,” has announced a unique philanthropic initiative, offering his sperm and IVF treatment for free.
Partnering with Moscow-based AltraVita clinic, Durov’s offer comes amid ongoing legal troubles in France, where he is under investigation and prohibited from leaving the country.
The 40-year-old billionaire, known for his 14 years as a sperm donor, has reportedly fathered over 100 children across 12 countries through IVF.
AltraVita’s CEO Sergei Yakovenko confirmed the offer, saying, “Pavel Durov compensates our clinic for all expenses related to IVF programs where his sperm is used.”
Women opting for this program must meet certain criteria, including being under 37 and passing a comprehensive medical evaluation.
While the clinic provides full medical support for participants, those not using Durov’s sperm face typical IVF costs ranging between $1,121.96 USD, and $1,825.34 USD.
Describing Durov’s initiative, AltraVita called it “a generous contribution to society from a person who strives to help those who dream of becoming parents.” Durov, who has a net worth of $15.5 billion, is making headlines not only for his philanthropy but also for his legal situation in France. Detained in Paris in August, the investigation reportedly focuses on criminal activities allegedly facilitated via Telegram.
Durov’s 24-year-old partner, Yulia Vavilova, a gamer and cryptocurrency coach, was with him during his detention.
Avoiding residence in Russia due to Kremlin tensions, Durov has passports from France, Russia, the UAE, and St Kitts and Nevis, primarily residing in the UAE.
