Karrigan reveals tragic loss of brother before major esports qualification event

FaZe Clan's Karrigan shares heartbreaking news of his brother's passing before major Counter-Strike qualification.

Finn "Karrigan" Andersen, a leading professional player in the Counter-Strike esports community, has revealed the heartbreaking news of his older brother's sudden death just days before a critical qualification tournament. Karrigan, a key figure in FaZe Clan, shared the emotional update on social media, expressing the immense difficulty of coping with the loss while preparing for the RMR (Regional Major Ranking) ahead of the Perfect World Shanghai Major.

"My big brother unexpectedly passed away a few days before RMR, it has been so rough to deal with it on top of the most stressful tournament," Karrigan wrote on Twitter. "I miss him so much and it’s hard to believe he is not around anymore. I know he is in a good and peaceful place now." Despite this personal tragedy, Karrigan qualified for the $1.25 million tournament, promising to honor his brother's memory by playing his best.

Following the tournament, Karrigan, 34, will return home to attend his brother's funeral before flying back to Shanghai for the Major, which runs from November 30 to December 15. Having competed professionally since 2006, Karrigan is one of the most experienced and decorated players in the Counter-Strike 2 scene, with a history of remarkable victories, particularly during FaZe Clan's dominant streak between 2022 and 2023.

At this difficult time, our thoughts are with Karrigan and his family.
