Jay Leno appeared at his Southern California show with a black eye after falling 60 feet down a hill just hours earlier. Speaking to Inside Edition, the former Tonight Show host shared that he misjudged the steepness of a hill near his Pennsylvania Hampton Inn while walking to a restaurant. The tumble resulted in a fractured wrist, a lost fingernail, and a head injury that left his eye swollen and bruised. “And then I’m all black and blue,” Leno explained, wearing an eye patch.

ay Despite the accident, Leno performed at Yaamava Casino before heading to the hospital. When asked if his vision would recover, he reassured, “It will be fine,” expressing no significant concern.
This isn’t Leno’s first brush with serious injuries. In 2022, he suffered second and third-degree burns from a gasoline fire in his garage, according to Entertainment Weekly. Treated at Grossman Burn Center in California, he underwent two skin graft surgeries. In early 2023, a motorcycle accident left him with multiple broken bones, including a collarbone, ribs, and kneecaps. Leno told the Las Vegas Review-Journal, “I’ve got a broken collarbone. I’ve got two broken ribs. I’ve got two cracked kneecaps.”
