India has refused to send its team for the Blind T20 World Cup in Pakistan, scheduled to begin on November 23, Express News reported on Tuesday.
Indian government has refused to issue a No-Objection Certificate (NOC) for the participation of their Blind Cricket Team in the event. The Blind Cricket Association confirmed the development, stating that they had been awaiting the NOC for 25 days, but the Indian Ministry of External Affairs denied their request today.
The refusal comes despite prolonged discussions and anticipation for the Indian team’s participation in the tournament, which was to be hosted in Pakistan.
This decision follows the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informing the International Cricket Council (ICC) that India will not travel to Pakistan to participate in the Champions Trophy 2025, the ESPNcricinfo reported on Saturday.
The BCCI officially informed the ICC that the Indian government advised against sending the team to Pakistan. The 9th edition of the Champions Trophy is scheduled to take place in Pakistan in the February-March window in 2025.
