New school timings announced for winter season

Federal schools in Pakistan announce new winter timings for morning and evening shift.

The Federal Directorate of Education in Islamabad has announced changes to the operating hours of educational institutions in the federal capital for the winter season.

As per the notification, schools on Fridays will operate from 8:30am to 12:30pm.

Morning shift institutions will open at 8:30am and close at 1:30pm. Schools in the evening shift will be open from 1:30 PM to 6:00 PM.

These adjusted timings aim to accommodate the shorter daylight hours during the winter season, ensuring a more efficient schedule for both students and faculty.

Earlier on Nov 18, the Punjab government had announced new guidelines for the reopening of schools, with strict precautions in place to ensure the safety of students, teachers, and staff amid ongoing concerns over air quality and smog.

According to the notification issued by the provincial government, schools outside of Lahore and Multan reopened from today (Tuesday).

The notification also mandates that all students, teachers, and school staff must wear masks, and school administrations will be responsible for ensuring compliance with this directive.

Additionally, outdoor sports and extracurricular activities will remain suspended until further notice. To prevent traffic congestion, schools will stagger break times based on grade levels.

Senior Minister Marriyum Aurangzeb addressed the situation, stating that difficult decisions had been made to protect public health, noting that the change in the direction and speed of the eastern winds had improved the smog situation in Punjab.
