CM stresses financial liberation of rural women
"Financial independence of rural women of Punjab is among my priorities," Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has said while referring to a project of giving cows and buffaloes to widows and divorced women of South Punjab.
She added, "Equal and rapid development and prosperity is the right of every woman of Punjab."
According to a statement, rural women of 12 districts can apply for the livestock project. The districts are Dera Ghazi Khan, Muzaffargarh, Rajanpur, Layyah, Kot Addu, Multan, Khanewal, Lodhran, Vahari, Bahawalpur, Bahawalnagar and Rahim Yar Khan.
The chief minister said rural women will get employment opportunities from the livestock project.
"They will also be able to meet the growing demand of milk and meat by rearing cows and buffaloes of good breed," she added.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz said in her message on World Day of Remembrance for Road Traffic Victims that the construction, repair and maintenance of more than 600 roads across Punjab was going on rapidly to prevent accidents.
"For the first time in Pakistan, an ambulance service is being started for rescuing accident victims on motorways. Drivers' training programmes are also ongoing under the supervision of traffic police experts at different service centres," she said.
The chief minister said the government would upgrade the Rescue 1122 service for traffic accident victims. "Pakistan's First Air Ambulance Service is transferring patients in the golden hour."
She appealed to the citizens to make it a habit to follow the traffic rules to protect themselves and others.
