Robbers steal iPhones worth Rs6mln from trader in Karachi
A trader from Rahim Yar Khan and his business partner were robbed of mobile phones and cash worth over Rs6 million near water pump Chowrangi in Karachi on Saturday, reported Express News.
The incident occurred when the two businessmen, Muzzammil and Arsalan Ishaq, were traveling in a rickshaw, returning from the Star City Mobile Market in Saddar, where they had purchased 35 iPhones.
Muzzammil, who runs a mobile phone shop in Rahim Yar Khan, and his partner had come to Karachi to buy mobile phones for their store.
The two businessmen were on their way back to Rahim Yar Khan, traveling by rickshaw to the Sohrab Goth bus terminal when they were intercepted by four armed robbers on two motorcycles.
The robbers blocked their rickshaw near the Water Pump flyover and, at gunpoint, snatched a bag filled with the phones, which were worth approximately Rs6 million
Mazamil and Arsalan had kept their personal mobile phones in their pockets, but the robbers did not demand them. The bag they lost contained not only the phones but also around Rs2,000 in cash.
Following the robbery, the two businessmen immediately called the police, but it took almost three hours for a police patrol to arrive. The victims were then directed to the Samanabad police station, where they were asked to provide the IMEI numbers of the stolen phones.
The traders later provided the required information from the shops where they purchased the phones. The police promised to register an FIR and investigate the matter further.
Upon hearing of the robbery, the President of the Saddar Mobile Dealers Association, Minhaj Gulfam, visited the affected traders and condemned the crime.
He also urged the Additional IG Karachi and DIG West to take immediate action and ensure the arrest of the criminals, suggesting that CCTV footage might help identify the robbers.
The case is now under investigation, and the police are working on tracking down the culprits through available leads.
