Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie's bitter legal battle over French Vineyard heads to trial

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s ongoing legal dispute over their shared French vineyard, Chateau Miraval, is now set to go to trial after a recent court ruling dismissed Jolie’s attempt to have Pitt’s lawsuit thrown out. The trial, scheduled for 2025, marks a significant turning point in their bitter post-divorce battle, particularly over the ownership of the iconic estate.

The vineyard, which was purchased by the couple during their relationship and later became a profitable winery known for its award-winning rosé, has become the focal point of their legal clash. Pitt’s lawsuit, filed in 2022, claims that he and Jolie had a verbal agreement that gave him the right of first refusal to buy out her 50% share of the estate.

In 2016, six years after their separation, Jolie sold her share of the vineyard to Russian businessman Yuri Shefler and his Stoli Group, prompting Pitt to file a $67 million lawsuit. The actor argues that the sale violated their prior agreement, while Jolie contends that she had the legal right to sell her share to whomever she wished.

Recently, a judge ruled that Pitt’s claims regarding the verbal agreement were valid, allowing the case to proceed to trial. This ruling has set the stage for an intense courtroom showdown in 2025, with insiders revealing that the legal battle is expected to get even more contentious.

A source close to the case said, “It’s already been ugly, but it’s going to get even uglier as Angie is bent on retaliating against Brad and will continue to settle more old personal scores.”

Chateau Miraval, which was also the site of the couple’s 2014 wedding, has become emblematic of their fractured relationship. What began as a symbol of their love has now turned into a focal point for their ongoing and increasingly hostile divorce settlement.
