Education board acts against 435 officials

The Rawalpindi Education Board has disciplined 435 officials following investigations into student complaints about exam irregularities.

The Board Chairman, Adnan Khan, and Controller of Examinations, Tanveer Asghar Awan, initiated the inquiry after receiving numerous complaints from students about poor marking and discrepancies in the recent first-year matriculation annual exams.

The investigation revealed significant irregularities in the evaluation process, prompting disciplinary measures against a wide range of personnel. Those penalised include nine secretarial officers, 66 head examiners, 210 sub-examiners, 119 assistants to head examiners, 22 special super checkers, eight Board representatives, and one data entry operator at the marking centre. Consequences for these individuals range from formal warnings and salary deductions to disqualification from Board duties for periods extending up to a lifetime, depending on the severity of the misconduct.

Khan emphasised that the Board is committed to upholding merit and transparency in exam procedures, commending Controller Tanveer Asghar Awan's prompt response in addressing student concerns. "The rights of the students will not be violated in any way, and all possible facilities will be provided to them," Khan assured.

To prevent future issues, expert teacher teams in various subjects will supervise the marking process with quality checks at every stage.
