‘Hawk Tuah’ girl Haliey Welch launches AI-powered dating app Pookie Tools for Gen Z singles
Haliey Welch, the 22-year-old content creator behind the viral “Hawk Tuah” video, has ventured into the tech world with her new AI-powered dating advice app, Pookie Tools. Launched this week on the App Store, the app aims to help Gen Z singles navigate modern dating challenges with features like conversation starters, outfit suggestions, and profile analysis.
Welch developed the app in partnership with Ben Ganz, founder of Ultimate AI Studio. Key features include a “Flirt Meter” to evaluate text messages, zodiac compatibility insights, and creative date ideas based on location. “This app is the easiest way for them to find their forever Pookie,” Welch told TechCrunch, crediting Bill Maher for encouraging her to create the app during a podcast appearance.
Some tools, such as the “Height Detector” and “Bald Predictor,” have sparked debate, with critics calling them mean-spirited. Welch defended these features, emphasizing their lighthearted nature. The app’s subscription model costs $7 per week or $50 annually, with a three-day free trial available.
Welch’s latest endeavor follows her rise to fame with nearly 5 million followers across social media and the launch of her podcast, Talk Tuah. Future updates for Pookie Tools will include collaborations with guests like Holly Madison and Whitney Cummings, adding more features to engage users.
The app arrives as AI tools increasingly play a role in online dating, addressing common frustrations like ghosting and misrepresentation. While some users praised its functionality, others noted that the chatbot’s responses lacked Welch’s signature humor, a feature developers plan to refine using podcast transcripts.
