Cillian Murphy to sell Dublin townhouse, seeking more privacy amid growing fame
Oscar-winning actor Cillian Murphy is preparing to sell his south Dublin townhouse in Monkstown, seeking greater privacy for his family amid rising fame.
The ‘Oppenheimer’ star, who recently made history as the first Irish actor to win an Oscar for a leading role, has resided in the mid-terrace Victorian home since 2015 with his wife Yvonne McGuinness and their two sons. Located on a public square, the home’s open setting has led to increased attention from fans, particularly middle-aged admirers hoping for a glimpse of the star.
Sources reveal Murphy’s next home will offer a perimeter boundary, enhancing privacy. Known for valuing his family’s Irish upbringing, Murphy described the move from London to Dublin as “the best thing we did.” The couple’s current property, a protected 1863 Victorian townhouse purchased for €1.7 million, spans 3,444 sq ft, featuring six double bedrooms and original fireplaces. Murphy, now starring in ‘Small Things Like These,’ is expected to remain in the Dublin area despite the move.
